Six weeks to singing stardom — the Warwick Folk Festival Scratch Choir wants you!

- No experience required - bring your voice and Bruce will do the rest.

Choir leader Bruce Knight firmly believes the Zimbabwean proverb: 'If you can walk you can dance; if you can talk you can sing!'.

He's putting the theory to the test by presenting a Scratch Choir at this summer's Warwick Folk Festival and he's recruiting members now. No experience is needed - even if you just sing in the bath, you're qualified. Neither do you need to read music as all of the songs will be taught by ear.

Bruce is looking for over 50 enthusiastic singers to take part in six Monday evening sessions in Warwick, starting 20 June, to prepare for a couple of short performances at the Festival. He'll be teaching a lively selection of unaccompanied harmony folk songs from around the world, suitable for both the first-time singer and the experienced acappella crooner.

The Festival itself takes place Thursday to Sunday, 28-31 July and Bruce will be hosting a harmony singing workshop on the Saturday and a performance by the Choir in Warwick's Market Place on the Sunday.

Bruce Knight has been running singing workshops in Warwickshire and beyond since 2000, including Leamington and Warwick's 100-strong Songlines Community Choir. Also a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network, he is known for his upbeat and energetic style, and his love of songs with simple dances or movement.

He says, 'This is a great chance to find your natural voice, discover new songs and feel the joy of creating harmonies with new friends in a fun atmosphere.'

There will be a small charge of £30 for the whole series of workshops, final rehearsal and performance. Participants are asked to bring payment to the first rehearsal.

To find out more and to pre-book your place in the opening session, give Bruce a call on 01926 778454 or email him on bruceknight.voice@virgin.net
